Dr. Amritpal Singh Arora

Dr. Amritpal Singh Arora is a Family Physician who has been with PrimeCare Medical clinic since 2010. He was born and raised in BC. He attended medical school at the University of British Columbia and completed his residency training in the lower mainland of BC.

He has a strong interest in medical education. Currently, he serves as an academic advisor for the Faculty of Medicine at UBC and teaches medical students in his office. He is also involved in the training of Family Medicine residents through his role as the curriculum faculty for the Vancouver Fraser Family Medicine residency program, based out of Royal Columbian Hospital.

In his free time, he enjoys time with his family, cultivating a healthy lifestyle and working on creative writing.

Dr. Gurpaul Brar

Dr. Gurpaul Brar is a full service Family Physician at PrimeCare Medical. He graduated from the Medical University of the Americas and completed his residency at Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare in Florida. Dr. Brar was born and raised in Abbotsford, B.C. After studying abroad he chose to return home to B.C. and settled in Burnaby.

Dr. Mudher Darwash

Dr. Mudher Darwash graduated from the Baghdad University Medical School in 1993. He worked as a general surgeon in Iraq and Qatar before immigrating to Canada. He did a trauma surgery fellowship at VGH in 2010 and 2011, and he worked as a surgical clinical assistant at the Sturgeon Community Hospital in St. Albert, Alberta.

Dr. Darwash completed his Family Medicine Residency with the University of British Columbia in July 2015. 2015. He previously had his own practice at PrimeCare Medical, but he is now working as a Hospitalist while working occasional shifts at PrimeCare

Dr. Jeff Dresselhuis

Dr. Jeff Dresselhuis is a full-service family physician at the PrimeCare Medical Centre. He has associate privileges at Royal Columbian Hospital, where he delivers babies.

Dr. Dresselhuis is a youth leader at his church and he is President of the Westminster Medical Association.

Dr. Lalji Halai

Dr. Lalji Halai completed medical school in 2006 at the University of Nairobi, Kenya.  He practiced as a General Practitioner, Hospitalist and an Emergency Physician and was the Emergency Department Head for 6 years in Nairobi, Kenya. He decided to take on the challenge of pursuing Family Medicine in Canada and completed residency in Family Medicine at the University of British Columbia in 2017 and started full scope family practice at PrimeCare Medical Centre on August 2017. He also practices as a Hospitalist at the Burnaby Hospital and Royal Columbian Hospital and is the Facility Medical Director at The Salvation Army Buchanan Lodge a Long-Term Care Home in New Westminster. Other accomplishments include MSc in Clinical Management of Pain through the University of Edinburgh in 2015. He has an interest in Chronic Pain Management.

Dr. Meryline Ndlovu - Pediatrician

Dr. Dr Meryline Ndlovu completed her specialty training in Pediatrics and Pediatric Respirology at the University of KwaZulu Natal, South Africa. She grew up in a small town called Beitbridge in Zimbabwe. She relocated to Canada from South Africa in July 2022 and settled in Burnaby where she enjoys practising as a Pediatrician at Burnaby General hospital and PrimeCare Medical Centre. She is excited to be part of the amazing team at Prime Care Medical Centre. As a newcomer, she believes she is going to make an impact to the pediatric community of Burnaby. Dr. Prav Nijjar

Dr. Prav Nijjar is a family physician at the PrimeCare Medical Centre.

She was born in India, but came with her family to Canada at the young age of 2 years!  She grew up in a few different communities including Victoria and Nanaimo, but mostly spent her childhood/teens in Abbotsford, B.C.

She graduated from the UBC Faculty of Medicine in 1997.  She completed her residency in Chilliwack, B.C. in 1999.  She spent a few years practicing as a locum physician for community practices as part of a family practice obstetrical referal group and as part of an emergency assault team member while on Vancouver Island.

Since 2003, Dr. Nijjar has practiced in Burnaby.  She also lives in Burnaby with her family.  Though she sometimes misses the obstetrical part of her career, she is happy practicing full time in the ever-so-diverse practice of family medicine!

Dr. Baldev Sanghera

MD, CCFP

Dr. Baldev Sanghera has been a Family Physician in Burnaby since 1998 and is one of the founding directors of PrimeCare Medical Centre in 2009. He graduated from the UBC Faculty of Medicine and went on to complete his Family Medicine residency training at UBC as Chief Resident of the City Program. He lives and works in Burnaby and strives to make Burnaby a healthier community. He encourages proactive care to his patients to help them achieve their health goals.

He is interested in medical leadership and education. He has been a clinical instructor of UBC medical students and National Board examiner for the Medical Council of Canada. He is a founding Board member of the Burnaby Division of Family Practice. Currently, he is a Physician Lead on multiple Burnaby Division of Family Practice projects including the Burnaby Primary Care Network, and he is the Medical director of the Edmonds Urgent & Primary Care Centre. He is a  Family Practice Champion of the GPSC’s Practice Support Program teaching physician colleagues and their office teams innovations in clinical practice and management. He has completed the GPSC Leadership and Management development Program at SFU’s Beedie School of Business.

He enjoys a healthy active lifestyle with his family and loves travelling with them around the world. He has an interest in technology and anything with wheels or a motor. He is a soccer fanatic and can often be seen wearing a cast due to his exuberant athletic endeavours.

Dr. Shawn Tully

Dr. Shawn Tully grew up on a dairy farm in rural Manitoba.  He moved to BC for his undergrad at UBC and fell in love with the lower mainland.  Returning to Manitoba for his M.D. he started working his way back out west for his family medicine training in Chilliwack BC.  Upon completion of his training he worked throughout BC and NWT for 2 years practicing family medicine, obstetrics and emergency medicine before settling into his current practice.

He is excited to be a part of the Primecare Medical Centre practicing full service family medicine with the support of their great team.  He currently works in his family practice office half time, splitting the remainder of his time between the Primary Care Obstetrics Clinic in New Westminster and surgical assisting at Royal Columbian Hospital and Eagle Ridge Hospital where he holds associate privileges.  He also enjoys teaching students and is a Clinical Instructor with the UBC Faculty of Medicine Department of Family Practice

When not busy with work he can be found spending time with his family, cycling or playing ultimate Frisbee.

Dr. Andrew Wong

Dr. Andrew Wong is a full-service family physician. He is a 2005 Gordon M. Shrum Scholar and completed his undergraduate degree in Kinesiology at Simon Fraser University in 2009. In 2013, he graduated from medical school as a member of the Vancouver Fraser Medical Program at the University of British Columbia and went on to complete his Family Medicine residency training at the University of British Columbia.

He has an interest in medical leadership and quality improvement. He has served as a representative on the BC College of Family Physicians, Society of General Practitioners and College of Family Physicians of Canada. He has worked and completed research with the BC Patient Safety and Quality Council with sponsorship from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research. He is both a proud and grateful recipient of medical student leadership awards from the BC College of Family Physicians and Canadian College of Family Physicians.

His wish for humanity is to value the gift of time. He enjoys the outdoors, sports, technology and spending time with family. He has special interests in mindfulness-based reflection, nutrition, and holistic patient-centred medicine.

Dr. Davidicus Wong

Dr. Davidicus Wong is a full-time family physician at the PrimeCare Medical Centre.

Dr. Wong was born in Vancouver, but grew up in Burnaby where he continues to practice as a family physician, integrating meditation, hypnosis, acupuncture and cognitive therapy in his medical practice. He received his M.D. from the University of British Columbia.

At Burnaby Hospital, where he continues to deliver babies, he chaired the Ethical Resources Committee from 1992 to 2007 and led ethics consultations from 1997 to 2007, he was Head of the Department of Family Practice from 2003 to 2010, and he chaired the hospital’s Medical Advisory Committee from 2006 to 2007. He was the Chair of the Fraser Health Authority Medical Advisory Committee from 2008 to 2010. He was the Chair of the Burnaby Division of Family Practice from its inception and continued as the organization’s Physician Lead until September 2015. He is the current Treasurer of the Board. He continues to lead the BDFP’s Empowering Patients public health education program, delivering unbiased essential health information to the Burnaby community.

He is a  Family Practice Champion of the GPSC’s Practice Support Program, teaching physician colleagues and their office teams innovations in clinical practice. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Practice, Faculty of Medicine at U.B.C.

He has completed all levels of the CMA’s PMI courses and the GPSC Leadership and Management Development Program at SFU’s Beedie School of Business.
